Catawba Records was founded in the late seventies by Richard Mack, who was in charge of promotions at CBS Records. Mack was responsible for launching artists to stardom, achieving Gold and Platinum Records, including Earth, Wind & Fire, The O'Jays, Wild Cherry, Emotions, Santana, Betty Wright, and The Jacksons.

During the early and mid-eighties, Catawba Records was home to some of the most promising names in dance music, such as Dutch Robinson, Jimmy Castor, Wilson Pickett, Jackie Moore, and Brook Benton.

Celebrating its 40th anniversary, Catawba returns with a limited edition vinyl that includes edited versions of its favorites, new and unreleased tracks, and a gatefold packed with history.
