Classics Volume 2 kicks off with a slice of 2012 Defected goodness; Noir & Haze’s ‘Around (Solomun Vox)’. When Solomun took his turn to remix this Ibiza anthem it was heard everywhere from warehouses in Hackney to Pacha Ibiza, and showcased a different side to the heavier original. On the B-side is Moodymann’s Edit, where he makes subtle changes to Solomun’s mix weaving in tribal drums and stripping back some of the more techy elements, followed by Chicken Lips’ rumbling electro banger ‘He Not In’. An instantly recognisable record, even if you’re not aware of its name or who wrote it, with an unmistakable bassline that has truly stood the test of time.
