Though he’s still adjusting the space-laser to perfect album ‘numero twomero’ (it’s a working title, ok), Terje has found time to give us a sneak-peak of what’s to come with this body-moving, mind-stirring take on a spectacular Nordic synth workout from ‘82’s dystopian dance floors. Inspired by his Dansbar edits, Todd got into the studio for some multitrack madness, playing every part of this dark disco with all the signature Olsen sheen you could wish for. Luring Det Gylne Triangel back into the studio for the first time in 25 years (possibly in his trusty DeLorean), Terje crowned the track with a newly recorded vocal from the original lyricist, closing the temporal loop and opening the door to dancefloor nirvana.

With a light-touch farewell to the darker moments of the original, Terje amps up the funk and gets lost in the groove of this deep disco delight. After a messy intro of malfunctioning sirens and chirping synths, Maskindans morphs into a twisted new wave number, replete with chorus bass, mutant guitar riffs and a sticky 4/4. Ola Ødegård’s monotone vocals march in with darkened eyes and back-combed hair, striking angular shapes and computerized emotions before the track overflows into interstellar overdrive. Hitting the big red button marked “dub,” Terje adds echo and drops a Bobby O-style bassline, flirting wildly with acid house as synths roar and light up the cosmic sky.

Remix duties fall to Phantasy’s Erol Alkan, who replaces those dubby disco touches with the strobe-lit pulse of Giallo, stripping the track back into a dark and wired dancer that anticipates the imminent Electroclash revival. An insistent bassline and a mechanical beat take us straight to the climax as treated vocals take us back to listening to Jeans Team in skinny jeans on Trash’s dark dance floor.
