Tigerbalm - Profunda Alma EP [Razor-N-Tape Reserve]

With releases on Ubiquity, Wonderwheel and Razor-N-Tape, London’s Tigerbalm has recently found her own production voice, bringing a colorful vision of tropical influences filtered through modern club sounds. With the Profunda Alma EP, Tiger turns her attention to Brazil, creating two beautiful original tracks that pay homage to the country’s considerable impact on her musical sensibility. Profunda Alma features vocalist Joy Tyson (who appeared on Tigerbalm’s previous Nina EP) and crafts an atmosphere of deep emotional mysticism through driving percussion, an insistent bassline and dramatic guitar stabs. Vem Ca opts for a more bouncy vibe with a retro samba feel and features the incredible vocals of Joao Selva, who delivers a hook that feels almost canonical, as if we’d known it forever. The ever-consistent French producer Yuksek takes Vem Ca straight to the club with his remix, while London rising stars Make-A-Dance deliver two psychedelic dancefloor versions of the title track, making this a potent 5-track EP.
