Rising star Storm Mollison makes her debut on Heist with an EP that fuses house and R&B, and we’re completely captivated.
The future looks very bright for Heist's latest addition, Storm Mollison. Tipped by Shazam as one of their Fast Forward 2026 artists to watch, Storm is set for a massive year following an already impressive 2025. Just last year, she featured on Ki/Ki’s hit "Getting Ready For The Party," performed at Mixmag London events and the Raw Cuts x Heist party during ADE, landed her first Spotify cover, made multiple appearances on BBC Radio 1, released several singles, dropped a full EP on Noir Fever, and received a remix from Luuk van Dijk.
And if that’s still not enough to pique your interest, just listen to Act Like That, her new EP for Heist. In Storm’s own words, “this is the most exciting music I’ve made so far,” and we couldn’t agree more. The EP perfectly blends her love for house and deep-soul R&B across four tracks filled with deep chords, silky vocals, and characterful textures.
Opening the record is "Doing Sumthin’," a track that has become a staple in Dam Swindle’s sets since they received Storm’s first demo. Her quirky and charismatic vocal performance, courtesy of Aaron Pfeiffer, has never failed to get the floor moving in unison. Sometimes all it takes is for someone to tell you where to move, and the whole club follows suit. The rhythm is robust, and the sax phrasing serves as a nod to the classic house that has so heavily influenced Storm’s sound.
"Act Like That," the title track, is a contemporary R&B song that could have fit perfectly on Rochelle Jordan’s latest album. Performed by Storm herself, the lyrics celebrate women who are not intimidated by unreliable men. A declaration of independence wrapped in a sleek and addictive production that will stick in your head for a long time.
On the B-side, we find "Gotta Go," a subtle yet effective dancefloor weapon. With lush keyboards and a relaxed groove, the track relies on precise textures and small sonic details that keep interest from start to finish, culminating in a big breakdown designed to release all accumulated tension.
Closing out the record is "Workin’," which takes us back into R&B territory, though this time with a much more dance-oriented approach. Storm’s smooth vocals float over a steady beat, deep chords, and a bassline so seductive that it’s impossible to stay still, no matter where you listen to it.
It might seem strange to talk about a big breakthrough for an artist who has already experienced such remarkable growth, but if we’re talking purely about her music, this could be the record people look back on in a few years, saying, "remember when she dropped Act Like That?"
As always, enjoy the music and play it loud.
