Few pieces of European electronic music from the late nineties possess the mystique of the mixtape that gave rise to this release. Premiered 25 years ago on BBC Radio's legendary Solid Steel show, it began circulating as a CD-R with a photocopied cover before a small cassette edition through Blend Records. Word of mouth did the rest, and its reputation grew rapidly.

The Polish duo Skalpel intertwined the dusty atmosphere of trip hop with futuristic and precise rhythms, charting a path that many others would later follow. The Ninja Tune label even described “Virtual Cuts” as the most important mixtape in Polish electronic music.

This vinyl edition comes with new artwork by Bartek Szymkiewicz and, finally, gives the project the physical presence and weight it always deserved.
