Another modern and pure gold re-interpretation of the mighty Loleatta Holloway. This time, her famous 1977 hit & run goes under the scalpel and is tweaked to devastating effect by two of Chicago’s finest modern day editors: Jamie 326 and Cratebug. Anyone with even a passing interest in disco or house will be more than familiar with both these names. Having edited and remixed countless tracks in their own distinct way, they take this timeless Salsoul classic and strip it down to its bare essence, to its absolute basics, creating an authentic dancefloor weapon in the process.

This edit originally came out some years ago (in 2013) as part of a compilation showcasing the new wave of contemporary talent emerging from the Windy City. Naturally, it was one of the stand out cuts, gaining favour with a wide variety of DJs such as Motor City Drum Ensemble, Todd Terry, Jeremy Underground Paris, Theo Parrish and many more. Compared to Paperclip People’s 1994 anthem Throw, for the way that it takes an incredible loop from the bassline of Hit & Run, Hit It & Quit It is a beast, a record you will literally play over and over again, an unstoppable disco monster oozing power.

It was only right that this legitimate 12” one-sided re-issue came out on Salsoul Records, home to all of Loleatta Holloway’s greatest material and classics.
