Welcome to the second installment of the collaboration between The Reflex's Discolidays label and Because Music in Paris, remixing gems from the Zagora catalog.

Created in 1975 by producer Daniel Vangarde (father of Daft Punk's Thomas Bangalter), the Zagora label gave life to some of the most exciting records of the disco scene in France, from cult underground artists like Who’s Who and Starbow, to international blockbusters by Gibson Brothers, La Compagnie Créole, and Black Blood.

On this 12’’, we present for the first time two remixes of La Compagnie Créole, one of France's most successful bands in the 80s, who masterfully combined tropical sounds from the Antilles with pop and disco, achieving impressive sales figures.

With tapes believed lost forever, the unexpected discovery of the stems for two of their tracks not only made this release possible but also perfectly showcases the two sides of the band: “Le Bal Masqué,” which was a huge commercial success in 1984, and “La Nuit Des Requins,” probably their most unknown and underground track, both created by composers Daniel Vangarde and Jean Kluger.

“Le Bal Masqué,” now stripped of its more cheesy sections, highlights that infectious rhythm adorned with percussion and electronics, while keeping its catchy chorus stronger than ever. A guaranteed hit for tropical dancefloors at 122 bpm, regardless of your French knowledge!

“La Nuit Des Requins,” a tribute to the session musicians common in Paris studios at the time, receives a complete revamp by bringing the vibrant drums and devastating bassline of the original version to the forefront, resulting in a new 124 bpm version destined to ignite the most demanding dancefloors in the world.
