KH - Looking At Your Pager / Only Human [Ministry Of Sound]

The one that almost got away... A track many thought would remain exclusively on the USBs of the most discerning DJs, Kieran Hebden has finally secured sample clearance for one of last year's most talked-about tracks: “Looking At Your Pager”. Released on yellow vinyl with an illustrated sleeve and accompanied by another great KH classic rescued from the archives, “Only Human”.

Giving an unexpected twist to 3LW's 2000 R&B hit, “No More (Baby I’ma Do Right)”, Four Tet, under his alias KH, works his unmistakable magic on the sample in true Hebden style. With that distinctive vocal fragment, he repeats it infinitely over a vibrant and wobbly synthetic bass, combined with a dynamic garage beat. The result is a Four Tet warp of gigantic proportions, finally officially released through Ministry of Sound Recordings with the title “Looking At Your Pager”.

“I made this track last summer, just before my first festival set in a long time. I wanted something new to play that felt universal, positive, and futuristic, and this is what came out.”

“Since then, I think more people have asked me about this track than anything else I’ve done, and I’ve had amazing times playing it for the best audiences one could ask for. Getting approval for the vocal sample took quite a while, but it finally happened, and now the music is out in the world for everyone.”
