Jamie Jones - My Paradise [Defected]

Defected needs no introduction, only a reiteration that it’s no secret they are one of the most influential house labels currently operating. Jamie Jones made a huge impact on the Ibiza 2022 season with this track, garnering support from across the spectrum, from underground tastemakers to daytime radio. Bolstered by remixes from Brazilian icon Vintage Culture and the alchemist himself, long-time Ibiza master Damian Lazarus, on this infectious and joyful house groove. It’s easy to see the widespread appeal of such a sunny track.

While Jamie explored disco influences with his signature high-energy groove in the original, Vintage Culture's unmistakable and precise sound gives it a decidedly harder edge, with a driving bassline and ever-shifting synths giving it that darker club side. Lazarus, the sound-shifter that he is, reshapes the song in his own image. Culminating in a more abstract, fractured, undeniably funky house entry, with some synths and keys that feel like they shouldn’t fit, but by God, they work a treat.
