Gemini's In Neutral has always been considered something of a classic of second-wave Chicago deep house; an album celebrated by those in the know since its original release in 1997, but one that didn't have the broader impact it probably deserved. Since then, it's been hard to find on vinyl—unless you're willing to pay inflated prices online, of course—so this licensed reissue by ChiWax is a welcome surprise. In Neutral remains arguably Gemini's finest work, combining potent, hypnotic deep house tracks with Detroit techno influences, with a sprinkling of deeper, jazz-tinged downtempo passages (as on "Ahi"). The album also features an early Chicago boompty house gem with the excellent "?."
