There are few people in the world who haven't been impacted by the work of Frankie Knuckles. Eternally recognized as The Godfather of House for his unparalleled contribution to house music as we know it today, what began as an underground movement in Chicago has reached global heights thanks to his legacy. His records earned him worldwide recognition, allowing him to work with some of music's biggest stars, including Diana Ross, Whitney Houston, and Michael Jackson.

On March 31, 2014, Frankie passed away in Chicago, leaving behind an unmatched legacy of almost four decades in house music. Now, his legacy is commemorated by his lifelong production and songwriting partner, Eric Kupper. A DJ, producer, and writer with an impressive track record, Eric has worked on over 116 singles that reached #1 on the Billboard Dance Chart and played a fundamental role in many of Frankie's productions.

Since 2011, both solidified their partnership under the name Director’s Cut, dedicating themselves to producing original releases and remixes based on the classic Def Mix sound, sharing credits equally on their creations. Together, they reproduced and reimagined classic cuts for modern dancefloors, with reworks of artists like Marshall Jefferson, Ashford & Simpson, Artful & Ridney, and The Sunburst Band, as well as Frankie Knuckles' own classics.

Now, Eric Kupper has brought these productions together in a special album titled The Director’s Cut Collection, released through SoSure Music. This work includes Director’s Cut reworks of Frankie's classics like Your Love and Take You There with Jamie Principle, along with their first #1 single, The Whistle Song, on which Eric shares songwriting credits. Among the multitude of classic reinterpretations, a previously unreleased version of Ashford & Simpson's Bourgie Bourgie and a massive Director’s Cut Retro Signature Mix of Marshall Jefferson's anthem Move Your Body featuring Curtis McClain stand out.

The Director’s Cut Collection is a perfect tribute to commemorate the fifth anniversary of Frankie's passing, while also providing Eric with a platform to tell his side of the creative story. This album is being released in collaboration with The Frankie Knuckles Foundation, an organization dedicated to keeping his legacy alive for the future.
