“Reconnect,” a collaborative project between Francesco Mami from Italy and Julien Chaptal from France, is a musical exploration that emerged during a unique period of global confinement, where creativity flourished in unexpected ways.

The genesis of “Reconnect” dates back to a time when the world had to pause and stay home. During the first 50 days of this period, Julien Chaptal found inspiration and joy in reconnecting with his instruments and the countless musical ideas that constantly filled his mind. Embracing the freedom to create without limits, he produced one track a day, accumulating around 50 pieces, many of which remained unfinished.

A year later, a fortuitous meeting in Geneva with Francesco Mami, accompanied by sake, good food, and music, sparked the idea for a collaboration. Julien sent some of his initial tracks to Francesco, who reimagined them, adding his unique touch and giving them new life. Their online exchange and collaborative efforts resulted in the tracks that now form the EP. Francesco, a true studio craftsman, expanded Julien's original vision, creating a synergy that neither could have achieved alone.

The record encapsulates the theme of “Confined Freedom,” a reflection of the period in which it was created, and draws on three decades of electronic music influences, a fusion of inspiration that shaped its sound. The warmth of the equipment used in the studio sessions offered a comforting contrast to the external circumstances. Various drum machines and synthesizers were employed, contributing to the unique sound of the EP, although no specific equipment was highlighted as a key piece in its creation. “Reconnect” is not just a collection of tracks; it is a testament to creative resilience and the power of collaboration, even at a distance.

With remixes by masters Reboot and Johnny D, the vinyl, set to be released on December 6, 2024, promises to capture widespread attention.
