Fouk regulars have just dropped the perfect dancefloor bomb with ‘Mirage’, accompanied by a high-octane remix from Elisa Bee.

We all know Dutch duo Fouk for their soulful and funky approach to house music. They are also responsible for some of Heist’s biggest hits, such as ‘Kill Frenzy’ or their Lil Louis inspired release in 2021, ‘Blue Steel’. On their new EP, the talented duo shows us a fresh side to their sound: the main room, hands-in-the-air, big-energy dancefloor side. To top things off, Italian producer Elisa Bee took some time off her busy DJ and release schedule for artists such as Ben Sims on his Hardgroove imprint and Unknown to the Unknown to deliver a killer remix of the title track.

Fouk’s return to Heist after 3 years is a welcome one and with ‘Mirage’, they might have delivered their biggest hit in their career spanning over a decade. The track revolves around a choppy synth loop and a seductive female vocal chant repeating ‘What made you wanna…?’ The real star here is the bassline, which drives the track into a seriously infectious groove. Add some lush strings and mood-setting transitions and you have a full-on dancefloor weapon. ‘Mirage’ has been a staple in Dam Swindle’s sets for the past few months and has been one of the highlights in their performances ever since.

“Coffee” is for the classic Fouk fans. It’s got a lovely Rhodes, a joyful combination of vocal chops, snare hits and synth stabs all moving over an infectious orchestral background loop. “Tapioca” is a Latin/electronic rhythm hybrid that leans on punchy synths, live percussion and swirling keys to balance the track’s energy.

Elisa Bee’s remix of ‘Mirage’ is a percussive intense workout that leans on a breakbeat loop and a rave bassline. The tempo is cranked up a couple of notches and that choppy synth and vocal from the original makes this remix a wild warehouse affair.

The last track of the EP is ‘Abalone’; a lovely bleep-house affair that still retains a bit of that warehouse vibe. It’s got the perfect amount of crunch on the drums while keeping things dreamy with melting pads throughout the track.

As always, enjoy the music and play it loud!
