fabric, the cultural institution that has been the pillar of electronic music in London and across the globe, today (6th September) announces the consolidation of 23 years of scene influence with a new label, fabric Originals. Taking its inspiration from the guiding lights of the genres that have emerged from the club’s sound systems and slotting in alongside its already established fabric mix series and Houndstooth imprint, the label aims to release special projects from the artists making up the present and future of cutting-edge club music globally.

To launch the label, fabric Originals today presents A Day After A Night With U / Stars & Water, a new two-track 12” split vinyl on coloured vinyl from hi-NRG pioneers @eris-drew & @octoocta.

Kicking off with ‘A Day After A Night With You’, Eris Drew takes inspiration from elements of 90s big beat with a propulsive twist, adding chest-rattling bass notes to anchor the track’s 4/4 rhythm. The track’s retro sensibilities are further highlighted with a catchy soulful vocal sample and vintage-feeling synths, alongside an almost spiritual mysticism permeating the track’s nervy production and uplifting melody.

Created as a reaction to the dancefloor awe of ‘A Day After A Night With You’, Octo Octa’s ‘Stars & Water’ takes on a much more energetic tone. Taking cues from a classic house sound, the track employs deft polyrhythms to build progressive energy. The track’s analogue bassline contributes to its authoritative tempo before a spacious and beautiful break takes the track from a high-energy workout to a mid-tempo stroll through the track’s sonic oasis, before an exhilarating build towards a final climax.
