Berlin’s Cinthie has long been a respected figure within the Berlin underground electronic music scene and further afield, running the Beste Modus and we_r_house imprints as well as Unison Wax alongside Diego Krause, plus holding a residency at her hometown’s notorious Watergate club and recently opening her new record store in Friedrichshain, Elevate. It is clear that the electronic music scene plays an enormous part in Cinthie’s life and here we see her add yet another imprint to her already impressive collection of imprints, namely 803 Crystalgrooves, a platform for her own material that leans towards more classic and raw House sounds in contrast to the deeper, more minimalistic sounds heard on the other labels.

Kicking off the package is the hard-hitting anthem ‘Together’, an intense House groove driven by a filtered funk-infused bassline, shimmering organ chords and energetic 909 drums; the result is an emotive slice of peak-time House that sets the EP in motion. ‘Ada Lovelace’ follows and focuses attention on dusty, swinging drum sounds and an amalgam of disco strings and choppy vocal samples all intricately programmed to create a dynamic dance floor experience. ‘No Need To Worry’ closes out the package with murky bass tones, wandering stab sequences and minimalistic percussion, to close the package on a darker, more unsettling note.
