Body Clock Vol.2 compiled by Dean Chew [Darker Than Wax]

Following the release of its debut “Bodyclock” series in 2020, Singaporean imprint Darker Than Wax now presents the second volume in the series, showcasing the identity of the label’s extensive global family. The first volume, a natural extension of the label’s DNA, illustrated an onslaught of nocturnal club sounds, rooted in culture curated by dancefloor pioneers. BodyClock Vol.2 showcases the next generation of producers pushing the limits of musical self-exploration.

Compiled by DTW co-founder Dean Chew, “Bodyclock Vol.2” features a transcontinental selection that highlights the work of eight producers spread across the globe, delving into the scenes of Vancouver, Osaka & Tokyo, Cape Town, Vienna, Karachi, Amsterdam, and beyond. “Bodyclock Vol.2” takes listeners on a danceable journey, globally diverse and full of color.

Opening with Laza’s “WTBWH” (the first single off the project), the record's pace is quickly set with intense drum patterns and enveloping soulful keys. Throughout the project, acid-tinged tracks from label veterans such as Akio Nagase and newcomer Tollcrane meet ethereal, alternate movements from B.Visible and Teo Mattress, accompanied by the 80s, sassy sounds of RGL and the 2-step drums and wobbling basslines of UNOS. BodyClock Vol.2 closes with Tiro!’s “Charcuterie,” smoothly gliding through the ether offering icy keys and soothing frequencies. Another essential delivery of global dancefloor action from the Darker Than Wax crew.
