207737 - Ghetto Superstar [Detroit Techno]

Ghetto Supastar is a song by American rapper Pras, but it is also the name of this new 12" from 207737 on the Detroit Techno Records label. It represents a new sound emerging from the celebrated Motor City, drawing on everything that came before and adding a fresh perspective, emotion, and sonic designs. 'Stella' is an agile and soulful cut, with minimal drums and a cosmic atmosphere, while 'Tribal Dance' offers brighter chords and playful patterns over raw drums. There's a lot of influence from Omar-S's rough drum work in 'Apply Pressure', and elsewhere, '8 Mile Boogie' superbly brings a Mediterranean Balearic vibe to Detroit. An intriguing EP, no doubt.
