Los Angeles-based producer Yotam Avni expands his capacity for depth and endurance on his new release for Arts, South Bend. Opening with the hard-hitting, repetitive grooves of “Fix”, and continuing with the title track “South Bend”, the Tel Aviv visionary demonstrates an exceptional ear for enveloping spaces and ethereal sound design.

Contemplative tones emerge in “Subject”, before flowing into the layered improvisations of “Galaxy Jazz”. Although this release represents only a small part of Avni's extensive catalog for the label, we are left with great anticipation for all that is yet to come from him.
