Yan Cook - Equinox EP [Cooked]

Yan Cook, from Ukraine, has been at the forefront of techno in his country for some time. His work moves on the dubbier end of the spectrum and brings even more weight to this release on his label, Cooked. “Equinox” is a track that builds the early evening mood, writhing between blurred synths and grainy lo-fi grooves. “Syzygy” is more repetitive and forceful, with hallucinatory percussion over a cavernous bass. “Monsoon” is as urgent as an action order from a commander on the front line, and “Headspin” is just that: a more frenetic and twisted brain exercise, perfect for dizzying 5 AM sessions.
