Phantasy takes us back to 1982 with a faithful reissue of Xclusiv's coveted 'Fools Are Friendly', painstakingly remastered from the original tapes.

A project by sisters Karen and Maxine Berlinski, Xclusiv discreetly emerged from London's Croydon district with a sophisticated vision of cosmic pop disco, connecting the suburbs with the neon-tinged nightlife of Soho. Decades later, and in close collaboration with the sisters, this much sought-after record is re-released by Phantasy, respecting its original and sensual form.

Originally self-released on Le Maitre Music, a spin-off label from the family's fireworks and pyrotechnics business, 'Fools Are Friendly' conveys that irresistible feeling of a radio hit that never was. A brilliant DIY reflection of the disco and soul that dominated the charts of the time, where its bright, primitive electronics evoke the synthesizer experiments of Giorgio Moroder or Didier Marouani, pioneers who were transforming pop music.

The extended mix works as an overture for the sisters' twin vocals, unfolding with delightful disco drama. In contrast, the Instrumental Mix allows the combination of disco elements to breathe fully, while a synthesized version of Xclusiv's irresistible vocal hook takes center stage among timeless arpeggios and subtle modulations.
