Sophisticado Recordings label boss Vick Lavender hails from Chicago and is doing a superb job of carrying on the city's house legacy. In January he released the superb Time Traveler album and now returns with a rogue one-sided 12", on limited edition white vinyl, that takes some seriously potent classic sounds and transforms them into a super funky and jazzy groove. The piece is loaded with layers of Rhodes, shimmering cymbals, elastic, rolling bass lines, and organic percussion. It's the sort of intense, sweaty session that makes the most intimate backrooms boil and raise the temperature. Another standout release from Lavender.
