Tropical Disco Records kick off their 2023 vinyl catalogue in triumphant fashion with Volume 27 of their much-loved 12” series. Once again, the label successfully delivers a four-track homage to the limitless power of jazz-infused disco for the dancefloor, a sound they have made entirely their own over the last five years.

Opening the EP, we find Scruscru, an artist whose meteoric rise has run in parallel with Tropical Disco's growth. Here he is in a state of grace with ‘Phunk U Do’, a sexy, funk-laden, 70s disco bomb perfect for shaking hips. Get ready to see it set dancefloors alight all summer long, thanks to its enveloping keyboards, James Brown-esque vocals, and ferocious bassline.

Lance and Disco Strummer follow, keeping the feel-good vibes at maximum with ‘Hey Amigo’. A Latin explosion brimming with optimism, combining carefree vocal loops with powerful brass arrangements and a contagious bassline that will keep the dancefloor moving from dusk till dawn. If you’re looking to unleash uncontrollable joy in your DJ sets, here it is.

On the B-side, Sartorial himself, a key figure of the label, delivers a smoky and absolutely sensual vocal gem titled ‘Fly’. Fusing 70s jazz licks with a solid live bass, sublime saxophone solos, a heavenly voice, and a characterful scat, this track oozes style from every pore.

Closing the EP with elegance is one of the greatest exponents of disco in Mexico, Monsieur Van Pratt. In ‘Journey’, he deploys a powerful brass section and a percussive breakdown with a devastating effect on the dancefloor. With abundant guitar licks and synth accents, he achieves an incredibly tight yet warm groove. A winning combination.
