Okay, so you're listening to the 23rd edition of Kompakt's annual TOTAL compilation series… wait… 23??? It’s impossible to see that number without thinking of Captain Clark's anecdote from William S. Burroughs, The Illuminatus! Trilogy, and The Justified Ancients of Mu Mu. But don't worry, we won't let ourselves get carried away by eikositriophobia. After all, we are enlightened people.
The lively dance begins with solemnity thanks to KOLLMORGEN's subtle deep minimal gem "Muddy." The wonderful ARGIA debuts with the somewhat misleading title "No Concept": the Madrid artist actually has a very precise plan. Also present is our number one hitmaker, JÜRGEN PAAPE, with his brand new super hit "Alone In Italy." His colleague MICHAEL MAYER also appears in full disco form with "Talmi." One of the secret weapons of the current season comes from STEPHAN BARNEM & FUTURISTANT: "Don't Cry" is a passionate new wave anthem destined for eternity. JÖRG BURGER proclaims a new psychedelic genre: Cinematic Dance, before C.A.R. & PATRICE BÄUMEL slowly raise the energy level in the Club Mix version of "Four Down." Then, JOHN TEJADA calmly cruises at the desired altitude as the crew serves refreshments. BARNT/MAYER's "Duration" pays homage to the artist formerly known as Prince with grand rave romanticism, and about REX THE DOG's summer hit "Change This Pain For Ecstasy," there's really nothing more to say. The force of nature from Thuringia, ROBAG WRUHME, of course could not be missed: "Fire" once again shows him in top form, with one of the dirtiest basslines in techno history. From London comes HARDT ANTOINE, who spells understatement with "All We See." And finally, REINHARD VOIGT feat. Eduard Weber brings it all together — live from the great Comedy Barn of folk music. Cheers!
