Hopefully, we still have music... COD3 QR, Laurent Garnier's label, returns in May with a spectacular four-track vinyl release bringing together American luminaries such as K' Alexi Shelby and DJ Bone, alongside French wizard Marc Bedikian and one of COD3 QR's prominent figures, Squal G.
K' Alexi Shelby is a prominent figure in electronic music, and with a career spanning decades, he has solidified a significant influence in House and Techno. Throughout his career, he has worked with numerous renowned artists and has remixed tracks that are now key pieces. The cultivation of his vast musical catalog has resulted in albums and the three labels he runs. It has also led him to legendary collaborations with artists such as The Pet Shop Boys, Robert Owens, Kenny Dixon, Roy Davis Jr., Maurice Joshua, Terry Hunter, Joe Smooth, Steve "Silk" Hurley, Tyree Cooper, Ron Trent, Glenn Underground, Larry Heard, DJ Pierre, Carl Craig, Felix da Housecat, Marshall Jefferson, Will Smith, and many more. Already respected worldwide as a true legend of underground House, he further reaffirms this with his deep and seductive opening track "Flame."
Marc, a music enthusiast with a geeky soul, has forged his sound universe over decades. He grew up listening to the melodies of Prince before delving into 90s Hip-Hop culture. In the early 2000s, he immersed himself in the effervescent world of electronic music, a revelation that marked a decisive turning point in his career. From Detroit Techno to the experimentation of Richie Hawtin, the raw energy of Josh Wink, the power of Gary Beck, the subtlety of James Holden, and the eclecticism of Laurent Garnier, his influences are multiple and define his musical identity. With "Qui Peut Le Plus," he pays homage to all of them, blending hypnotic rhythms, deep textures, and characteristic tension buildups. His approach, both in the studio and behind the turntables, is a constant quest: to thrill, surprise, and transmit the pure essence of electronic music.
On the B-side is the legendary DJ Bone, a Detroit icon. It's no coincidence that those two letters always precede his name, because, first and foremost, he is a DJ in the most authentic sense. When he spins, it's as if the turntables and mixer are a physical extension of his body. From his sold-out residencies to his after-hours sessions, he delivers every show as if it were his last. DJ Bone plays for his own enjoyment as much as for the audience's. His dedication to the art of dance music and the craft of DJing is intense and uncompromising. No trends or artifices, just relentless drive and a passion that he has also poured into his productions over the years, primarily on his labels Subject Detroit and Further, and now also on COD3 QR with peak-time Detroit Techno in "D.D."
Producer and manager of Slates Records, Squal G is a French artist passionate about electronic music since the 90s. He initially practiced his art as a DJ, but a few years later, he fully immersed himself in machines and computers, which allowed him to advance in production and remixing. He never sticks to just one style, which, depending on his inspiration, leads him to be more or less hard, though always within the spirit of techno. After delivering "Waiting 4U" last year and "Face" in January, he returns for the third time with the closing track "Parallel Sound."
