British techno game hunters Planet Rhythm present four forceful dub techno-adjacent tracks from a distributed artistic source: in their words, they are “dub-infused techno cuts.” The careful fusion of both genres achieves the best of both worlds; as if a system of underground tunnels had been excavated between territorial fields: between the zonal and liminal states of dub techno and the mined test grounds of hard techno. Among the highlights, Antic Soul & Off’s “Powerglide” flexes its muscles with chords that seem to hit behind our knees, wearing us out like toddlers at the rave. And Lucas Boston’s “Future Dub Movement,” a particularly echo-laden track, deploys a sonic-warfare spectacle of the raw power of the cutoff filter in modulation.
