Nu Groove puts the spotlight on the artists who made this cult New York label a favourite of crate diggers, both yesterday and today, with this special vinyl release featuring essential tracks reinterpreted by some of today's most prominent selectors.
The label, founded in 1988 by Frank and Karen Mendez as a platform for the experimental works of the Burrell brothers, quickly became home to a new generation of genre pioneers.
"Nu Groove Edits, Vol. 8" opens with DJ Steaw's Autumn Reshape for "Window Guards", originally produced by N.Y. House'n Authority, one of Rheji Burrell's aliases.
Next up is Steve Mac's remix for "Tonight's The Night" by New York favourites The Sound Vandals, followed by another fundamental N.Y. House'n Authority reference, "APT. 3B", reinterpreted by Dazzle Drums.
Closing this vinyl collection—destined to become essential material for future record boxes—is a third cut from the mind of Rheji Burrell: Seamus Haji's reinterpretation of The Utopia Project's "File #1".
