Upstairs Asylum starts the year off in style with a couple of strong new EPs. This is the first in what appears to be a new series destined to showcase Motor City talent. Mike Clark and Marcus Harris open with "Hey", a track with a subtly optimistic vibe thanks to its bright, sustained chords and warm drums. Santonio Echols' "Piano In The Light" (remixed by DJ Emanuell Echols) is relaxed and playful deep house with magical chord work. Brian Kage brings his characteristic sophisticated touch to the smooth grooves of "This Saturday Night". Ryan Sadorus closes with the atmospheric and misty "Down Below".
