Running Back's house history subsidiary, Double Copy, returns with four masterworks from Chicago, London and an international cast from Italy on its first various artists sampler.

Originally released on Roy Davis Jr.'s Undaground Therapy label, Destination Heaven by the enigmatic project Earth Boys offers celestial deep house that was an anthem at Frankfurt's Wild Pitch Club and in the early days of its successor, Robert Johnson. Produced by Cloudy Eyes and Cole Brooks, sadly we never heard from this duo again. Fortunately, Family of Few have been a bit more prolific. Also known as Mind Readers, Kevin Elliot and Billy “Jack” Williams created some of the most delicate moments in the catalogue of 430 West, the Detroit label. Intervoles is one of those peculiar and catchy tracks ideal for slow-burning dancefloors.

On the B-side, the focus shifts to Europe's interpretations of its American references. Released in 1992 on Rena Records with the participation of New Yorker JoVonn (a deep groove genius in his own right), the talent of Pierre Audetat on keyboards and the production of I. Betti, M. Clemente and W. Brown, Dummy Head is an absolute rarity. Enveloping echoes, dub textures and a heavy bassline combine in the Edit Mix of I Have Been Wanting You, shaping one of the first fully developed examples of dub-house.

On an equally pioneering level is the work of Rob Mello. There isn't enough space here to list all his achievements, but suffice to say that the UK house scene would not be the same without him (Luxury Service Records, Classic, among others). Under the alias Karim, Mello created a unique masterpiece. Distilling the essence of deep house while looking to the future, In My Mind is many things at once: broken beat, electro, house with enveloping chords and, if you will, a perfect warm-up banger. And just like all the tracks here, it caught attention at the time and continues to do so today. Hardcore Deep House!
