Unknown Assailant is a limited edition vinyl label shrouded in mystery. Each of the four tracks on the first release tackles a different style of techno, ranging from the cinematic acid of “Forgiveness But No Surrender” to the full-throttle, no-nonsense style of “Silent Scream”. Incorporating the dark, minimal style of “Whippet” alongside the hard-hitting dancefloor groove of “The Sickness”, it’s an eclectic, well-balanced package fusing analogue textures with ambient and bursts of energy. Each of the tracks has been created in collaboration with an artist who wishes to keep their identity a secret, so the music does the talking. Unknown Assailant ties the release together by participating in each of the collaborations, with the four Silent Assassins ranging from artists known for their successful releases on well-known labels to those less familiar within the techno realm. This release is limited to a vinyl run of just 200 copies, with more secret instalments in the series to follow in the coming months.
