Tuccillo - First Summer EP [Kaoz Theory]

Italy's Tuccillo returns to Kaoz Theory this July with his First Summer EP, once again showcasing his charming take on minimalist, groove-driven house. Beginning his career in the 90s and still as relevant as ever, Tuccillo has become a highly sought-after artist for both his records and DJ sets; his name is synonymous with raw, groovy, dancefloor-focused tracks that have found homes on esteemed labels such as Visionquest, 20/20 Vision, Free-range, his own House Of Tucci, and of course Kerri Chandler's Kaoz Theory, where he now returns.

Tuccillo is also part of the Doublet duo alongside Holic Trax boss Tomoki Tamura, in addition to participating in other sound projects. The EP opens with the title track, First Summer, perfectly setting the tone with Tuccillo's distinctive style, which uses floating stab sequences, bouncing basslines, fragmented vocal cuts, and a rounded low-end groove over a raw, stripped-down beat.

Next up, One More delves into dub house territories, with raw, reverbed dub chords, ethereal pad textures, and murky bass swells flowing delicately around a swinging, saturated drum groove. People For The People follows with organic percussion, filtered funk licks, a meandering bassline, and jazzy keys, before Gotta Be Free closes out the release, returning to a more minimalist aesthetic thanks to nervy acidic bass stabs, floating synth melodies, crisp drums, and an amalgam of processed vocal chants throughout the track.
