The Nathaniel X Project - Music Station Archive Traxx vol. 2 [Daybreakers]

Earlier this year, Miche launched the archival-focused Daybreakers imprint with an excellent deep dive into the back catalogue of legendary New Jersey garage-house imprint Music Station. Now, he returns to the label's vast archives for a second selection dedicated to the mid-90s work of James Nathaniel Tinsley, aka Nathaniel X, and more specifically to his eponymous 1994 debut EP.

Opening track 'Gotta Get Over' remains a special, enchantingly brilliant piece that combines the swing of garage-house with the organ sound characteristic of NJ records of the time, along with references to the analogue Chicago deep house of the moment. It is accompanied on the A-side by 'Gotta Go Dub', which is more danceable and musically rich. On the B-side, the jazzy, organ-rich deep house science of 'Free Yourself' is combined with the soulful joy of 'trad garage' from 'Get Up'.
