An honest and direct homage to the golden age of library music recordings, this new release is no exception: with nods to David Shire, Roger Webb, 60s and 70s Hollywood, early anime, and the golden age of video games.
Hammond and Farfisa organ, soul flute and vibraphone combine with Baldwin electric harpsichord, alto flute, and trumpet, coloring the usual high-level rhythm section made up of drums and bongos, electric bass, piano, and guitars. The moods range from the dynamic energy of The Galata Extraction to the whimsy of Travers and the romanticism of Redford in Sheepskin; from the somber tone of Tatsuya, the Sword to the sensuality of Dunaway’s Eyes. Walter in Gabardine and Sutherland fly the flag for ATA's archive of 70s New York soundtracks, while both A Dilemma for Holbrook and Roundtree are drenched in soul flute so funky it should be sold at the cheese counter.
