Detroit sisters The Jones Girls were an enormously popular part of the Philadelphia International Records label's catalog during the 70s and 80s. They recorded numerous tracks for the label, backed by the incredible production and arrangements of the legendary duo Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff.

“Night Over Egypt” is, without a doubt, one of their most enduring and timeless tracks. As popular today as it was upon its release in 1981, it’s a record that truly transcended genre boundaries and connected with people of all types and musical tastes: a true soul classic. Imitated many times, but never surpassed. It’s no wonder the 12” has always been so sought after, fetching collector’s prices on the secondhand vinyl market. On the B-side, “Love Don’t Ever Say Goodbye” is a sensual slow jam produced by Dexter Wansel that ticks all the boxes: pure quiet storm sound, ideal for lovers.

This is a completely official reissue, made in conjunction with Above Board Distribution and Sony Music, extracted from their archives using original material, remastered and reissued to the highest standards in 2018, and including the original 1981 PIR label art.
