Ten City are universally recognised as one of the seminal projects in house, responsible for taking the gospel of the genre from Chicago to the world during its formative years in the late eighties. Amazingly Ten City are still recording and performing live, with the voice and face of the group, Byron Stingily, playing classics such as “That’s The Way Love Is,” “Devotion” and “Right Back To You” to multi-generational fans across the planet.

Throughout his career Byron has always had an acute grasp of where house is heading, both musically and culturally, and what part Ten City can continue to play in remaining at the vanguard. In 2025, he saw that it was the perfect time to collaborate with a producer from a new generation, someone who really “knew their stuff” and could take full advantage of new production techniques that make dancefloors rock. At the same time, the collaborator needed to know and deeply respect the legacy of Ten City, refraining from straying too far from the essence of their original songs and albums.

That collaborator he found in another Chicago-born talent: DJ Emmaculate, widely recognised by house heads as one of the genre’s most outstanding producers, songwriters and DJs.

For their new album on Nervous Records, fittingly entitled “The Next Generation,” Byron and Emmaculate have expanded Ten City’s sound both musically and in the vocal department. Although the “Voice of House Music” Byron Stingily continues to deliver infallible hits with his unmistakable style, the album also features outstanding vocal contributions from Mon’Aerie, Uneq’ka, DRAMA D. Lylez and a rap courtesy of OVEOUS.

This custom-covered, eight-track double vinyl is an essential gem for anyone who is a fan of house in all its forms.
