SMBD - Purple Winds EP [Dirt Crew]

After a string of releases on labels like Apron, Freerange and BBE, this house music veteran by the name of SMBD, better known as Simbad, needs little introduction.
These five tracks range from soulful house to dark breakbeat material and ambient soundscapes. Especially the great title track "Purple Winds" is a beautiful piece of emotional music. The last track, "Man Madol", reminds us a lot of the early years of Detroit electronic music. "Piano Lick" and "Glory" are full of soul, funk, disco and basically just good times on the dance floor, while the melancholic acid breakbeat and atmosphere excursion "– 8 –" goes deeper and deeper...
