Almost two years after his last EP on Soul Quest Records – a label that is fast becoming a must-check for fans of soulful house and elegant, soul-soaked deep house – East London native SLXM Sol returns to the imprint with a superb four-track release. The main draw is undoubtedly "Simple Love", a beautiful fusion of warm, slightly airy deep house, organ-rich New Jersey garage house and the natural, soulful vocals of Laville and BB James. The mighty Kai Alce delivers a remix that combines a warm, rolling deep house groove with fluid piano solos and snaking trumpet solos. Elsewhere, "Waiting 4 U (vinyl edit)" is a seriously deep, smoky and soulful broken beat workout, while "Smiles" is a dustier, hazier affair, with a KV5-style jazzy focus.
