Twelve years ago, when he was still an emerging talent, Sakro—a deep house producer from Aguascalientes, Mexico—appeared on Lake Placid with Beautiful People, an EP of unusual quality that at various times evoked the work of several classic house producers from New Jersey, New York, and Chicago. As this reissue demonstrates, it remains a great EP.

The lead track, where warm electric piano chords, dusty samples, and nocturnal musical motifs soar over a swinging New Jersey garage house groove, is undoubtedly the biggest draw. However, we are also big fans of "Real Deal," which is more robust and loosely structured. The latter receives a remix from Andrade, who strips the track down to its essence, opting for more minimalist beats and dreamier chords.
