Format: Super limited clear vinyl LP edition of Japanese jazz-fusion classic Safari – from Safari themselves!

WRWTFWW Records is ecstatic to present the official reissue of Safari’s self-titled album, originally released in 1984. This Japanese jazz-fusion gem is now available as a limited clear vinyl edition, housed in a heavy cardboard sleeve and an obi strip.

Originally released on the mythical VAP label, Safari is a unique summer-infused blend – close to city pop – of AOR, smooth jazz, and sun-drenched boogie. The only album from this stellar project was conceived by keyboardist Toshiyuki Daitoku and bassist Gregg Lee, a California-born, Japan-based jazz-funk-latin-fusion expert. Together with an extensive team of experienced musicians, they shaped an eight-track sonic cruise, full of poolside grooves, fresh rhythms, and vocal harmonies that convey pure good vibes.

Safari includes the celebrated title track that served as the opening song for an 80s sports show on Fuji Television, the chilled-out night piece “All Right in The Night,” and the fan-favorite holiday-appropriate hit “The Morning After.”

The official reissue is fully licensed and mastered from the original tapes, with audiophile cutting by Sidney Meyer at Emil Berliner Studios, guaranteeing the warm and pristine sound this lost gem deserves.

Safari is the second release of WRWTFWW’s City Pop Series, following Momoko Kikuchi’s summery classic Ocean Side, also available on clear vinyl. The series, with a visual identity designed by Lopetz/Büro Destruct, also includes a limited collection of merch and other sunny gems to come.
