Saada Bonaire / Jens Mahlstedt - You Could Be More As You Are [Self Release]

For those unfamiliar, Saada Bonaire’s 1984 gem, “You Could Be More As You Are,” is the very definition of a cult classic. Known for delivering a hypnotic blend of new wave, alternative synth-pop, and dancefloor-oriented post-disco sensibilities, it was produced by a little-known German DJ and fronted by two female vocalists.

Now, those same singers have teamed up with producers Jens Mahlstedt and Ralph ‘von’ Richthoven to deliver a new 2025 version. The track comes in two distinctly different forms. On the A-side, we find the "Super Disco Mix," a powerful version driven by electric bass, combining reinterpreted elements of the 1984 original (including some of its hypnotic synths) with sharp disco guitars and newly recorded vocals. Meanwhile, the "Bleep Mix" on the B-side is not a nod to early 90s Warp style, but rather a dub disco version with a slightly more electronic focus.
