Ron Basejam is, of course, the solo project of James Baron, co-founder of Crazy P, where he focuses his creativity on deep and weighty house music. This time, he arrives on the Leeds label 20/20 Vision with 'Maynard,' a slow-paced track that comes alive with bluesy vocals and a powerful brass section.

'Bighorn' explores the use of filters to build an enveloping, emotional, and loop-laden sound, while 'Is It Daylight?' takes a freer approach with a dusty-textured soul groove that would delight any Moodymann follower.

To close, 'The 8 Bit Slowdown' brings a cosmic-inspired atmosphere, combining jazzy wind passages with raw, broken, and irresistibly dynamic rhythms. An intelligent, varied four-track EP by a true master of the genre.
