Roman Flügel - Geht’s Noch? 21 Year Anniversary Part 1 [Running Back]

A 2000s classic, a catchy anthem, a favorite that ended up as a cell phone ringtone in schoolyards: Roman Flügel's inescapable ‘Geht’s Noch?’ celebrates 21 years on Running Back, revamped and remixed by a diverse group of artists who pay homage to its absurd energy.

Casually released as part of a Cocoon Records compilation in 2004, ‘Geht’s Noch?’ emerged from the depths with Sven Väth's support, becoming an international phenomenon that conquered and united the dominant minimal and electroclash scenes alike. Some say it laid the groundwork for the ‘Dirty Dutch’ house sound, albeit from across the border in Germany.

Known for injecting much-needed humor into today's club scene through her Live From Earth parties, DJ Gigola adds more power to ‘Geht’s Noch?’ with a planet-shaking kick drum before transforming the track's distinctive beeps into nonsensical Morse code for even greater pleasure. Another rave culture connoisseur, Luca Lozano, offers two alternative versions: his ‘Technocs’ mix flows with more cowbells, robotic commands, and stadium claps, while the ‘Gehts Garage Remix’ cleverly taps into the as-yet-unexplored UK funky potential present in the original.

Peder Mannerfelt, who effortlessly moves between innovation, functionality, humor, and seriousness – much like the original author – takes ‘Geht’s Noch?’ to unexpected heights. His remix builds unexpected drama and catharsis around the enduring riff, before a collaboration with his studio partner Par Grindvik as Aasthma shifts towards a bright, colorful, anime-tinged version, full of fantasy.

And although the digital release of ‘Geht’s Noch?’ also includes interpretations by Audion, Dominik Eulberg, and Moguai, this vinyl edition rescues the Steve Angello vs Who’s Who remix, which helped take ‘Geht’s Noch?’ from underground to stardom. Twenty-one years later, Flügel's eccentric hit continues to rise. Love it or hate it, ‘Geht’s Noch?’ still manages to grab you.
