Rocker's Revenge feat. Donnie Calvin - Walking On Sunshine (Yard Act Remix) / (Junior Vasquez Remix) [New State]

Rocker's Revenge was a studio music project, assembled by producer Arthur Baker in 1982. The band comprised Baker himself alongside Donnie Calvin, Dwight Hawkes, Tina B, and Adrienne Dupree Johnson. They are best remembered for their 1982 post-disco hit "Walking on Sunshine," which reached No. 1 on the US Dance Chart and No. 4 in the UK.

On the A-side of this release, the track is reimagined for 2025 with a remix from post-punk indie rockers Yard Act, who incorporate their own guitar, synths, and vocals to impart their unique stamp – It has become a track they have been performing live. On the B-side is a previously unreleased 9-minute remix from Junior Vasquez, legendary co-founder of New York’s Sound Factory, made in 1988, which transforms the track into a proto acid house bassline journey with driving percussion.

Boston-born Arthur Baker began his musical career as a disco DJ but soon moved into production, creating classic records for legends like Northend and TJM. Arthur is one of the most visible and widely imitated pioneering Hip-Hop and House producers; leading the innovative experimentation with tape edits, sampling, and synthetic beats on records such as Afrika Bambaataa’s Planet Rock, New Order’s Confusion, Freeez’s IOU, and his own break dance classic Breaker’s Revenge.

Baker went on to become an award-winning DJ, music, and film producer, working for and with artists including Dylan, Hall & Oates, Al Green, Springsteen, The Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac, Diana Ross, and many more; as well as composing music for classic 80s and 90s films like Beat Street, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, and A Life Less Ordinary. Also moving into documentary film, Baker has produced Finding The Funk and 808 the Movie. In addition, Baker directed a documentary about Rocker’s Revenge titled "On A Mission," alongside the completion of their debut album.
