Rico Puestel is a phenomenon and currently one of the best artists when it comes to solid, discerning techno. Techno that doesn't beat around the bush, doesn't hide behind vocal samples, and doesn't need unnecessary or pseudo-intellectual gimmicks to grab the listener's attention.

His two most recent contributions for Cocoon Recordings, "Equity" and "Immunised", strongly recall "Caravel", which he also released on the label almost exactly a year earlier. Mini-breaks and prolonged dramatic pauses are key pieces in Puestel's arrangement puzzle and, together with the hypnotic beats and constantly radiating synths and effects, they form his own interpretation of the techno sound. It vibrates, it shines, and with a proper sound system, it's just the kind of atmosphere that helps us forget the daily grind of dance music madness. That omnipresent "Let The Bass Kick" sample hasn't felt so at home in a long time.
