Chicago has had a strong re-edit culture since the days when Ron Hardy and Frankie Knuckles defined house culture in the mid-1980s. Rahaan, who has been one of the most prominent members of the global re-edit scene for the past two decades, is indisputably the current king of the scalpel-edit in the Windy City, as his ongoing series of reworks on Hot Biscuit Recordings emphatically proves. Here he adds two more refined revisions to his extensive discography. On the A-side, For Dancing & Singing, the veteran DJ/producer applies his golden touch to a 60s funk classic, making the most of the ideal breaks and grooves for sampling; while on the B-side, The Galaxy — our favorite of the pair — is a 70s space disco track, loaded with percussion, cheerful piano motifs, and intergalactic synthesizers that match the atmosphere.
