DJ Supermarkt discovered this rare private press 7-inch single a long time ago and, ever since, tried to locate the band to include the song on his Too Slow To Disco compilation series. After years, he found the band's frontman, Jeff Wollman, who gave TSTD permission to finally re-release this spaced-out funky beauty for the first time on the new TSTD 4 compilation.
The story could have ended here, but Jeff and DJ Supermarkt went one step further and created the plan to give the track to some selected producers for new versions or reworks. We contacted our favorite space producers, approved by today's smooth sound, and they all said "Yes!" and we are very proud to present: The Reworks.
About PRIME TIME BAND:
Some bands stand out for showing up, giving their all, and getting the job done. Prime Time Band is 38 improbable years into the industry, delivering a smooth and funky, yet jazzy, ensemble for discerning listeners across the US, Japan, and beyond. "Fall in love in outer space," their almost-hit from 1986, strikes that sweet spot between 80s funk-pop and the disco era with its love for all things galaxy. Guy Maxwell (bass), Larry Vann (drums), Jeff Wollman (keys), Kenn Peterson (guitar), and Tom Marken (vocalist) gave us a delightful space piece that sounds as ready for the dancefloor as it does for the credits of a good rom-com.
