Kapote - What It Is (2.0) [Toy Tonics]

Toy Tonics revive Kapote's album. 10 tracks for the dance floor originally released in 2019 on the album "What it is". Now re-edited and with 2 new tracks.

House music, but with a strong jazz-funk, Brazilian, and lo-fi influence. A vibe reminiscent of early Moodymann, Kerri Chandler, or the 90s Paris sound. Loft Disco and Indie House.

When this album originally came out 3 years ago, it caught the attention of many prominent DJs. DJ Harvey played it a lot at Pikes in Ibiza and Gerd Janson, Motor City Drum Ensemble, Kenny Dope, and Blessed Madonna were all filmed playing other tracks from the album.

Kapote doesn't release much music, as he is primarily involved in developing the Toy Tonics label, creative direction, and also in many productions by other artists releasing music on Toy Tonics. He originally studied piano and art, but later discovered the world of DJing, nightlife, and electronic music. Now he does what he does with Toy Tonics alongside a group of like-minded friends and producers.

Kapote's real name is Mathias Modica and if you Google this, you'll discover he's been making music before Toy Tonics under the name Munk. He also runs another label called Gomma Records, where he and some friends created a small universe based on electronic music, street art, DIY culture, t-shirt design, and underground exhibitions. Mathias, aka Kapote aka Munk, has produced and released records with artists such as Peaches, James Murphy and Nancy Whang of LCD Soundsystem, The Rammellzee, and WhoMadeWho. That's the past.
