Power Circle - Garden Of Peace [Renaissance]

After a 15-month hiatus, The ReMix Collection makes a hotly anticipated return with Yotto taking control of Power Circle’s ‘Garden Of Peace’ Shakra Mix.

Originally released in 1993, the track was instantly an anthem of the Renaissance scene, finding favour with all of its key DJs. However, it became synonymous with one man in particular, namely John Digweed, who cemented the track’s legendary status when he included it on his ‘Journeys By DJ’ compilation the following year. Even today, he has been known to drop it into his sets, most recently in episode 10 of his legendary Bunker streams. And the track has other contemporary fans too; a certain Mr Plex hammered it in 2020.

In short, it’s one of those records that has stood the test of time and grown in stature year after year. Now, its evolution takes another step as it joins Renaissance’s prestigious Remix Collection series.

Yotto’s modern take is a high-energy juxtaposition of thundering bass, rising pads, and THAT vocal. “‘Garden Of Peace’ is a record I missed as a kid and had only heard it in a mix, not knowing what it was, so when Renaissance came to me with a remix, there was a strange sense of familiarity,” he explains. “The original is full of progressive house classic mystery, and even though I stripped it completely, I wanted to keep that emotion in my rendition.” On the flip is a remastered version of the original Shakra Mix, which remains unreleased digitally and remains exclusive on vinyl only.
