REPRESS ALERT!: Pete Blaker has been making attention-grabbing — or rather head-nodding — moves of late, and he continues his run with this release on the excellently named Funkyjaws Music imprint. This fourth instalment in the Discolifting series kicks off with Zulu, an afro-disco sound with robust bass and dub touches, accompanied by a very sweet vocal and funk guitar riffs. Instrumental moves along with wide-ranging synths and agile bass, with more than a nod to the Bakerman groove. See The Light offers luxurious and bright disco with 80s synths, while Heaven closes with a more understated and introspective sound.
