Pallas - A Taste Of Ulysses (w/ Gerd Janson Remix) [Running Back]

“Are You in Heaven?” was the phrase legendary DJ Eddy de Clercq shouted at the crowd at one of Amsterdam’s early legendary house parties. Not only does it symbolize an iconic moment which captured the Zeitgeist, but it also lends its name to one of the three tracks included in this release.

In 1991, inspired by the tidal wave of dance music washing over Europe at the time, Arnoud Winkler and Jochem Peteri (who later became one-man-superstar Newworldaquarium) produced euphoric, soulful, vital and vibrant music: youthful in spirit, naive but cunning. A European translation of an American art form, born out of pure enthusiasm and a concentrated passion for a culture that, until today, still universally resonates.

Originally released on Lower East Side Records, the story told here is full of rave symbolism, post-party euphoria and literally “can-you-feel-it” moments: rumbling basses, ecstatic pads, whispering vocals, dub techniques and subconscious hints of climax on the floor.

This re-release includes a new edit of Ulysses Horizon by Gerd Janson (together with a revised version of the original), plus Flowerdale Beach and Are You in Heaven?. Music that has lost none of its charm and magnetism.
